Weekend Cold

I was sick with a bad cold this weekend. Took off Saturday from work. Sunday, Michael and Katherine both came by for dinner. Mike had bought some Porterhouse Steaks on sale so we had them on the barbecue. They were amazing, as tender as butter.
I went back to work Monday night with the idea of leaving after Dr. A got there if I didn't feel 'up to it.' My voice was practically shot. Somehow, though, I stuck it out into overtime and didn't leave until 9:30. I'm really glad I have off today because I need another day to crash. I've got leftover pizza in the toaster oven for lunch. It's smoking up the house so I guess I have to clean that thing before I use it again.
James is off today. I told him he was lucky and he said, "so lucky that none of my friends are off on Tuesdays!" So I guess he's bored. I should buy a wooden bird house kit and tell him to build one for me. I would love to have birds nesting outside. That would assume, though, that one of the boys (or Mike) would climb up so that it was high enough for the birds to feel safe.
Gonna go check to see if my pizza is done. Life is not exciting. I like it that way.

Quiet morning and SNOW

More flipping snow. The backyard is white. I hope it disappears soon!

James is downstairs on the treadmill. He is so dedicated to his daily exercise. He walks outside, lifts weights and does the treadmill. Not all at once! He looks fantastic and has lost a lot of weight.

Mike is off on a business trip until later this afternoon. Spent the night in Connecticut. I suppose they got more snow than we did. Last night when I left work the snow was falling so heavy I had to put my wipers on high.

Going to the dentist today. I went twice last year but hadn't been in many years. Too many other health issues to deal with and I can only take so much 'doctor's office' time. I have a broken crown and a missing crown I need repaired. I'm sure they are going to push other things, but for now I'm just going to say "NO."

Phone is ringing. It rings every morning about this time. I listen to the answering machine and there is no one on the line. You'd think whoever it is would take a fricking hint and stop calling.

Roses

Mike and I planted 2 rose bushes this weekend. Well, he did 99.9% of the work, but I helped. We put them in front of the house where there is little competition from other plants (a tree had been cut down a few years ago in the area) and lots of sunlight. I hope they actually do grow.

This morning started with rain and now it is snowing. What the hell??? How do you go from the 70s to snow in a day?????

Good News Again

Mike had his annual interview with his boss recently. We are both really happy and surprised that not only did he get a 4% raise but will also be getting a very nice bonus. Things are really looking up for us financially. I will continue to clip coupons, etc. It's fun and I don't ever want to be in debt again, anyway.

Mike scored 'excellent' in all areas. This surprised him because he was just promoted and it usually takes a while to get to that point in a new level. I'm just glad they appreciate him. He's been at this company about 20 years now and has probably prevented them from losing a shipload of money over the years. If you know my family you know where he works. If you don't, suffice to say it's an insurance company and he's a loss control specialist.

Not that anyone reads this.

We have no plans for this except maybe a few home improvements that will make the house easier to sell. Maybe we'll take a hike down to Florida some time to check out living there. I don't want it to be my permanent home, but I'd love to be a snowbird!
